Fresh Off the Boat, Since 1991
Hot, buttery lobster rolls served dockside. Rooted in tradition—and served with heart.
Our Story Begins
at Sea
Bart Mansi has been hauling lobster traps in Long Island Sound since the 1970s. In 1991, he opened Guilford Lobster Pound—a small dockside shop where customers could buy live lobsters fresh from the boat. With his 42’ vessel, the Erica Page (named after his daughter), Bart began each day before sunrise, pulling traps and delivering his daily catch straight to the shoreline.
As demand grew and word spread, Bart expanded the Pound into a full-service seasonal restaurant in 2007—serving up hot, buttery lobster rolls and casual seafood favorites with unbeatable views of the harbor.
Today, Bart still heads out early each morning, continuing the tradition that started decades ago and built a shoreline staple loved by locals and travelers alike.
